Plena 79 salsa orchestra is a hard salsa orchestra, founded in the summer of 2016 by the percussionist and composer Carlos Llidó and the multi-instrumentalist, arranger and produce Carlos Martín, and counting in his formation with musicians of an extended experience in salsa, Caribbean music and Jazz. Their repertoire is made of original compositions, arrangements of traditional themes and classic versions of hard salsa form the 60’s and 70’s, with powerfull arrangements for the enjoyment of the dancer.

The solid rhythmic base is formed by:

Following his long professional background in salsa and Latin music sets, the two leaders meet again to give live to Plena 79 (full 79) and offer a powerful repertoire, tailored to the dancer, and to the enjoyment of the unconditional followers of this musical genre. After the success of a series of concerts for the presentation of the proyect, they are developing their first album of this new and young salsa orchestra.

Carlos Martín (Valencia 1979). Active multi-instrumentalist and arranger who has contributed and/or recorded among artists like Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli, Bebo Valdés, Pablo Alborán, Niña Pastori (participating in the recording of “La orilla de mi pelo”, winner of the I Latino Grammy), David Foster and Alejandro Sanz where he has done 7 international tours and has recorded, among other, the 5 Latin Grammy’s winner and 1 Grammy Award “No es lo mismo”. Active Jazz musician that has collaborated  with Mingus Big Band, Carla Bley, Steve Swallow, Giovanni Hidalgo, Perico Sambeat, Chano Dominguez, Sedajazz Latin Ensemble and Latino artists like Issac Delgado or Jose Alberto “El Canario” (the canary). Carlos Llidó (Valencia 1979). Percussionist and composer trained in the Cuban School with Miguel Berro and José Amat “El Teacher”, he is currently participating in Latin Jazz and Afro-Caribbean music projects in International Jazz and World-music festivals. Has accompanied and recorded with artists and bands like Víctor Mendoza, Alberto Palau, Jesús Santandreu, Perico Sambeat, David Pastor, Gonzalo Eyzaguirre, Sedajazz Latin Ensemble/Big Band, Aire Flamenco or Son del Barrio, among other. Líder de 2 proyectos discográficos: Carlos Llidó “Handmade” y “Carlos Llidó Septet.

Percusionista y compositor formado en la escuela cubana de la mano de Miguel Berro y José Eladio Amat “El Teacher”, participa actualmente en proyectos de Latin Jazz y música afro-caribeña en festivales inernacionales de jazz y world music. Ha acompañado y grabado con aristas y grupos como Víctor Mendoza, Alberto Palau, Jesús Santandreu, Perico Sambeat, David Pastor, Gonzalo Eyzaguirre, Sedajazz Latin Ensemble/Big Band, Aire Flamenco o Son del Barrio, entre otros.
