VIKTORIJA PILATOVIC 4tet – “The Only Light”8€ – 12€
“The Only Light” (2019) is a record in the present tense, full of very personal songs with tremendously poetic lyrics that are creating the stories. It is, at the same time, a simple and complex album. Simple because its language is that of eternal Jazz, with the added value of some musical developments that, when separated from the initial arrangement, are drawing waves of extreme beauty that shine in the rich orchestration of accompaniment provided by their band – Alberto Palau on the piano and keyboards, Ales Cesarini, on theelectric bass and double bass, and Mariano Steimberg, on the drums and percussion.
And then there is Viktorija’s voice: firm, sure, expressive, giving the exact measure – no more, no less – of passions concentrated in his way of singing and in his way of composing, so wise and distinguished. A voice that glides like a seasoned surfer through the melodic waves of the subject. Viktorija has recorded an outstanding album that squeezes the essences of jazz of our time and passes it through the delicate sieve of its author, composer, performer and producer.
“The Only Light” esta nominado “el mejor disco del jazz” Premis Carles Santos en Valencia 2019. Tambien fue mencionado en la revista Downbeat Magazine (Octubre 2019) con una clasificacion superior de tres estrellas.
Perico Sambeat “Viktorija es uno de los músicos con más talento que he conocido en los últimos años, pienso que está llamada a escribir importantes páginas en la historia de esta música”
J.D. Walter “Very seldom does one come across the extreme talent, brains and drive to compose, arrange and perform, as I have witnessed in the voice and musical prowess of jazz vocalist Viktorija Pilatovic”
Greg Osby ” Viktorija Pilatovic ranks among the best of the new wave of contemporary singer/songwriter/performers. Her music is exceptionally personal that is equal parts colorful and yet, full of innocence. With this project, Viktorija offers her listeners a heightened sense of musicality and overwhelming joy, all wonderfully packaged within a series of beautifully framed soundscapes.”
